“…George’s guitars are among the finest I’ve met in my travels.”

On my last tour through the Pacific Northwest and Alaska I had the pleasure of borrowing a classical guitar from George Thomas of Bellingham.

I spent a couple of delightful hours playing George’s instruments. I found their different voices fascinating, but their quality consistently high. The basses were uniformly bright and powerful; beyond that their characters emerged as warm, bright and always delightful; even given their youth.

I finally settled on a young instrument with a beautiful body of Tasmanian Blackwood. Western Cedar face and Rosewood fingerboard, with touches of snakewood on head and bridge for character.

I play a lot of different styles on guitar, among them stride-piano, South American, classical, contradance and American Indian music – there was nothing I could ask of that instrument that it didn’t give me willingly.

I’ve enjoyed borrowing classical and flamenco guitars on my tours (to augment the twelve-string I bring with me) George’s guitars are among the finest I’ve met in my travels.
